United States GP FP3 and qualifying weather forecast

Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel fans might breathe a sigh of relief looking at the weather forecast for Saturday at the Circuit of the Americas. Vettel's United States Grand Prix is already compromised by a three-place grid penalty earned in Friday practice, but a repeat of 2018 meltdowns in the wet likely won't be repeated today.

Qualifying sessions in Hungary, Belgium and Japan have all featured Ferrari struggling in the rain – especially at Suzuka where the Scuderia's gamble on intermediate tyres left Vettel fighting from eighth on the grid.

The German will start no better than fourth in Austin, Texas after speeding under red flags in FP1, but he will likely have the chance to push title rival Lewis Hamilton all the way.

Come raceday, Hamilton can be crowned world champion for a fifth time if he outscores Vettel by eight points.
