Ricciardo admits reservations over Indy 500
Daniel Ricciardo has revealed that the prospect of getting behind the wheel in the Indianapolis 500 race like many Formula 1 colleagues before him sounds appealing, but he remains apprehensive about taking part, saying the oval format of the circuit creeps him out.
The Australian was part of the press conference previewing the upcoming United States Grand Prix, and with Indy 500 participant Fernando Alonso sat beside him, he was asked by a journalist whether he could see himself competing in the race in the future.
Ricciardo admits the prospect is "cool" but as time goes on it'll probably become scarier.
"Yes and no," he responded.
"The thought of it sounds good. Ovals creep me out a little bit. I won’t lie. It would be cool. I don’t know. I would at least like to have a go, like maybe just a test.
"Let’s see how things go but yeah, it was cool watching Fernando do it, don’t get me wrong and part of me was like trying to picture myself being there and doing it but yeah, maybe one day.

"At the moment I don’t say it’s something I’m looking to do in the near future. I don’t know. Probably the older I get, the more scared I’ll become, so if it doesn’t happen now maybe it won’t ever happen. I don’t know."
Romain Grosjean, who also featured in the press conference, echoed the comments of the Red Bull driver, mentioning the ovals also.
"I’ll join Daniel. It sounds cool, looks cool, it’s a great race. Ovals, yeah…," Grosjean said with a smirk.
