Stroll: Even an experienced driver wouldn't help Williams
Lance Stroll believes that the problems at Williams go much deeper than simply having two young drivers behind the wheel and that bringing in a more experienced driver would ultimately prove to be fruitless, and pointed at McLaren as an example.
Williams have comfortably been the worst team this season, and are only not rock bottom of the constructor standings due to Force India's administration which forced a name change, resulting in their points being wiped.
Stroll's father, Lawrence Stroll, is the man who actually saved Force India, and has poached his so to drive for the team next year which will see him leave Williams.
The 19-year-old, who partners first-season-driver Sergey Sirotkin, has commented on his current team's struggles, and has shot down the suggestion that it is just because they effectively have two rookie drivers as team-mates, using McLaren as an example of a team who have experience but still perform poorly.
“I think I have answered that question a few times this year, I wouldn’t say so,” he told Motorsport Week.

“Generally we are struggling in different areas this year and it’s been since day one with how the car has been behaving and the development throughout the year so I would say we are facing other challenges this year.
“If I take for example for McLaren, I am not in a position to comment on what they’re doing but if you look at Alonso, he has a lot of experience and [in Belgium] they were struggling the same way we were."
Stroll was quick to insist he was not judging another team as he is unaware of the internal situation within McLaren.
“We were almost the same pace in qualifying so you could say the same about them. I am just putting an example, I am not commenting in anyway about what they’re doing as I am not in a position to do that but that in my eyes says it all."
