Sebastian Vettel secured a 52nd Formula 1 race win with victory at the Belgian Grand Prix to move beyond fellow four-time world champion Alain Prost and into third on the all-time list of race-winners. Only rival Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher now stand ahead of the Ferrari man.

A fifth win of 2018 came at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday as Vettel dominated Hamilton to cut the Brit's championship lead to 17 points.

Both Vettel and Hamilton are vying for a fifth drivers' crown in 2018, which would take the victor clear of Prost, and level with Juan Manuel Fangio, on the list of record title-winners.

And, having surpassed 'The Professor' in Belgium, Vettel was clearly mindful of his historic feat, with only Hamilton (67) and record-holder Schumacher (91) ahead.

He said: "Well, more wins than Alain Prost... Woah!

"I had a great start, I'm not sure Lewis saw me as he pushed me to the left in the first lap, but after last year I ended up short, and this year it was the other way around - this year was better.

"As soon as I was ahead I relaxed. I had a good restart after the safety car, and after that it was a very smooth race. We turned everything around and then controlled the race.

"Going through traffic I was fortunate I didn't lose much time. Lewis wasn't really pushing anymore in the last 15 laps so I wasn't either. I enjoyed the race and to get so much time on this track is good and I always enjoy it in a fast car."
