VIDEO: How F1 2018 makes drivers appear so realistic

From what we've seen so far, the graphics on the F1 2018 video game look like they've been taken to another level. Not just the cars and the racing conditions, but each driver's physical appearance is as lifelike as we can ever remember in a video game.

But how do you turn a real-life person into pixels?

It takes hours and hours of programming, while the drivers themselves are also put through sessions of scanning and photographing to make sure that their virtual selves appear as close to the real-life ones as possible.

Short of having the actual versions of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel jump out of the screen and interact with you, we're not sure how much further things can be taken, but we're already excited to see where the game's developers can take things.

For now, we're looking ahead to next week's release of the new game, which will be available across all popular platforms.

Big thanks to Williams and game-makers Codemasters for sharing this behind-the-scenes look at how F1 is brought to life in each year's video game.
