TT Circuit poised to host Dutch GP

Lee van Dam, CEO of the Dutch Grand Prix Foundation, has provided an update on a potential Dutch GP included in the 2019 Formula One race calendar, saying that "positive" talks are ongoing between the relevant parties following a visit from the FOM to the TT Circuit Assen.

News began circulating of the potential of a Dutch GP returning to the calendar following a meeting between Van Dam and Charlie Whiting at the German GP in Hockenheim.

FOM officials have subsequently visited the TT Circuit to determine its suitability, and according to Van Damm, the examination provided some positive results.

"It all looked good," Van Dam told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

The FOM reportedly raised concerns about the size of the pit areas, but Van Dam brushed off the issue, saying: "There will not be any insurmountable things there."

With Liberty Media looking to add to the amount of races in the 2019 calendar, Van Dam claims that his track could be ready for next year if required.

"If we get a request to organize a race as early as 2019, this is also feasible," he continued.

"There are already 60,000 seats here, we have 28,000 parking spaces and we are twenty minutes from the German border and there is also an airport in the neighborhood with Groningen-Eelde."
