Alonso is F1's Neymar - Magnussen

Kevin Magnussen says Fernando Alonso is reminiscent of Brazil international footballer Neymar, albeit for his histrionics rather than high skill levels. The Haas and McLaren drivers came to blows during the first practice session for the British Grand Prix, prompting some classic Alonso radio.

After Magnussen elbowed him out of the way during a test run, Alonso radioed his team to complain about the Dane's "very dangerous driving", adding: "What I see from Magnussen I never saw in my life."

Neymar could not guide Brazil to the World Cup final in Russia recently, ending the tournament with more criticism for his play-acting and complaining rather than his technique - a trait Magnussen sees in the veteran McLaren driver.

"He does complain a lot on the radio," Magnussen said of Alonso. "But we see it in other sports as well.

"Even great athletes like Neymar and stuff, they exaggerate a bit."

Magnussen's Silverstone race was compromised by an opening-lap collision with his Haas team-mate Romain Grosjean, but he insists the focus is only on the future, not complaining about past incidents.

"I'm not going to sit here and do the blame game, I don't think there's any reason for that," he said.

"I think we move on and the situation is pretty clear, we have a good car, we don't want to waste points so what happened is not to be repeated hopefully.

"We are very open in the team, and close with each other, so we were able to move on pretty quickly. Of course no one is happy about what happened, but it is what it is.

"I still managed to score a few points [in ninth place] but should've scored a lot more. But we just need to be scoring points more regularly with both cars."
