Alonso: I'm one of F1's all-time greats
Alonso: I'm one of F1's all-time greats
Fernando Alonso says he should be regarded as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. Alonso is entering his 300th grand prix in Canada this weekend, making him just the fourth driver, after Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button to move past that milestone.
Although a switch to McLaren in 2015 has dropped Alonso out of the fight at the front, he remains one of F1's great achievers.
After bursting onto the scene with Renault, Alonso was the youngest race-winner, world champion and double champion - Sebastian Vettel has since taken those records from him, with Max Verstappen then lowering the race-winning record further.

Although he has gone five years without a race win in F1, Alonso still believes he compares favourably against the legends of the sport.
"I think l am one of the best drivers to have ever raced in F1 but probably not the best," Alonso told Sky Sports.
"There are drivers who are better than me in different areas of the weekend. I am probably not the fastest driver in qualifying, or the fastest in the race, or the fastest in wet conditions.
"But I am 9.5 in all areas and l try to benefit from that."
His fall out of the fight for race wins and titles in F1 has prompted Alonso to target the 'Triple Crown' instead.
Only Graham Hill has won all three of Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans 24 Hours and Indianapolis 500. Two-time Monaco winner Alonso is favourite for next week's Le Mans with Toyota and has been linked with a switch to IndyCar in order to potentially complete the set.
"The Triple Crown is an attractive target because it is so difficult to achieve," he said.
"These are the three biggest races in the world of motorsport: the Indy 500, Monaco and Le Mans. It is challenging because all three require different style and a different driving technique.
"If you challenge yourself and try to be the best in all areas, you have to be a complete driver.
"I don't want to just be a good driver, I want to be a complete driver and hopefully the best driver in the world."
