F1 apologise to Niki Lauda... or is it Nicki Lauder?

On a weekend in which Formula 1 were forced to say sorry to scores of fans who were let down by the new streaming service, three-time world champion Niki Lauda also received an apology from officials. Lauda was bafflingly referred to as 'Nicki Lauder' in an email to fans.

The error was pointed out across social media and F1 swiftly followed it up with an apology to the Mercedes non-executive chairman.

A light-hearted post read: "Not sure who Nicki Lauder is, but Niki Lauda said "We are back" as the Silver Arrows locked out the front row.

"Apologies to Niki and all our fans for the mistake.

"Rest assured our writer has had a talking to that would make even Christian Horner blush. We hope you're enjoying the race."

Proof-readers at F1 HQ will be working overtime this week after another spelling error left officials red-faced during Friday's practice session.

It didn't take long for people to notice that "#SPAINISHGP" had been daubed across the pit-lane.

The error was quickly spotted and covered with black paint before F1 got the hashtag right at the second time of asking.

Of greater concern for Liberty Media, however, will be the failed launch of F1 TV Pro, a streaming service supposed to revolutionise coverage of the sport.

Viewers across the world were left furious as streams failed to work, forcing Liberty into a grovelling refund.
