Vettel: Red Bull should redesign their front wing!

Sebastian Vettel suffered a hugely frustrating afternoon at the Spanish Grand Prix, having to settle for fourth position, a full 27 seconds behind eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton, as the Brit moved back ahead in the driver's championship standings.

The German cut a pensive figure when reflecting on the race; Ferrari lost Kimi Raikkonen early on, forced to retire, while Vettel never looked able to keep pace with either the Mercedes and the Red Bull of Max Verstappen.

Vettel's lack of pace was most evident near the end as Verstappen had suffered a damaged front wing and yet was still lapping quicker, something that Vettel put down to the tyres, before joking that Verstappen had been lapping so quickly, Red Bull should consider redesigning their front end.

He said: "We were going through the tyres quicker than the others today. Even [with Max] having a broken front wing.

"I think Red Bull can shave the other side [wing] off as well.

"As the laps went off, we just didn't haven't have enough pace. We weren't quick enough. At the end we weren't in a healthy shape with the tyre despite the fact that mine were the freshest.

"We changed [the compounds] for here. I think it impacted us more than others. We need to have a look at these tyres again."

Vettel's fourth leaves him a full 17 points behind Hamilton in the standings, with a trip to Monaco to come in two weeks' time.
