Hamilton sure he will sign Mercedes deal after more delays
Lewis Hamilton says he remains committed to signing a new deal with Mercedes, despite yet another delay to finalising terms. World champion Hamilton was expected to pen a fresh contract ahead of the 2018 season, but he is yet to do so.
The four-time champion has said he remains uncertain over committing his long-term future to Formula 1 as Liberty Media plan a raft of regulation changes for the 2021 season.
Hamilton was reported to have a three-year contract on the table from Mercedes but it remains to be seen if he will pledge to racing in 2021 - Daniel Ricciardo says he is likely to sign a two-year deal when his Red Bull deal expires this year.
Although some Mercedes fans may grow concerned at Hamilton's ongoing status as a 2019 free agent, he says he will stay true to his word and stay put.
"I'm fully committed to Mercedes," Hamilton said. "I have every plan to be with the team for the future so it is really about getting on with it.
"We were planning to do it after the last race but we had a lot on.
"I was not really around to meet - I had one day at the factory and then I was in China and then I was in the States.
"We will do it in the near future for sure, but it's not a rush thing.
"I've made it very clear, and they've made it very clear that they want to continue so it's quite an easy thing.
"I don't either of us have that personality to say 'I'm definitely going to be with them next year' and then not be with them next year so it is just about finalising and signing off."
