Brown opens the possibility of a Ricciardo-Norris Bathurst wildcard entry

McLaren CEO Zak Brown has suggested that Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo could get an opportunity to compete in other one-off events alongside racing in Formula 1.

McLaren previously allowed Fernando Alonso to compete in the Indianapolis 500, and Brown told Supercars Sidetracked that both of the team's 2021 drivers would be keen to take on Australia's Bathurst 1000.

“I think they’d both love to do it,” said Brown. “I think people now know I’m a little bit different than most of the team bosses in F1, as I like to see our drivers go out and give it a go at Daytona or Le Mans, things of that nature.

“I think it’ll just come down to schedule and whether they can fit it in the schedule.”

Conflicts in racing calendars often prevent Formula 1 drivers from racing in other categories - the Japanese Grand Prix often clashing with the Bathurst 1000 and the Monaco Grand Prix often clashing with the Indy500.

Brown shares ownership of the Walkinshaw Andretti United with Ryan Walkinshaw, and, in the 2019 running of the Bathurst 1000, the team ran a wildcard entry of Indycar drivers Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe.
