Bottas quickest, but crashes with Grosjean: Abu Dhabi GP FP2 Results

Valtteri Bottas topped the timesheets for the second time on Friday at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but his FP2 session ended in frustrating circumstances after a collision with Romain Grosjean.

Bottas looked to dive late down the inside of the Haas during the long-run simulations late in Friday's second session and Grosjean turned hard into the corner, despite appearing to have checked his mirrors, where the Mercedes was looming large.

Bottas' team-mate Lewis Hamilton said he "could have guessed" that Grosjean would have been involved in the incident as he enquired as to the reason for a red-flag period.

The early part of the session had been positive for the Silver Arrows, with Bottas and Hamilton the quickest on single-lap runs.

However, their rivals look to have much more left in the tank. Charles Leclerc followed Sebastian Vettel into the barriers at Turn 19, although not quite as heavily as the German had done so in FP1.

Max Verstappen also made several errors on his short-run effort, leaving an air of mystery hanging over the Yas Marina Circuit before Saturday's running.
